The Cordish Companies Teams Up with FanDuel for Sports Betting in Pennsylvania
The Cordish Companies, Maryland-based real estate developer chose FanDuel to be their sports betting partner for its two Live! Casinos that are in Pennsylvania. Both properties are under development and on track to welcoming their first visitors in 2020. The partnership between the Cordish and FanDuel will bring sports gambling and daily fantasy sports to the developer’s Live! Casino & Hotel in Westmoreland County.
Under the terms of the newly inked deal between the two firms, the sports gambling operator will open retail FanDuel Sportsbooks at Cordish’s two Pennsylvania properties. FanDuel and its partner will pursue online betting opportunities.
The Cordish Companies and FanDuel
The partnership will see the two companies pursuing expansion opportunities in additional states as sports bookmaking spreads across the nation. Washington D.C. and Maryland will be among the first jurisdictions beyond Pennsylvania, where The Cordish firms will launch sports betting operations with its new staking partner.
FanDuel entered Pennsylvania’s sports gambling fold this past spring with the launching of a FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia. The company also did launch a mobile gambling app in the Keystone State in July. The Principal of The Cordish Companies, Joseph Weinberg said that they are happy to work with FanDuel and to “bring our clients the premier sports gambling experience in the country.”
Matt King, FanDuel Group CEO added that “with ten decades of experience, The Cordish Companies created the model for world-class combined sports, gambling, entertainment, and also hospitality destinations” and that this new corporation allows his company to “capitalize on the unbelievable success of sports betting to date and brings FanDuel’s top sports gambling operations to Cordish destinations across the US.”
Live! Construction Progress
The Cordish Companies is still developing two properties, with both of them planned to open doors next year. The company held a topping off ceremony for Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. The facility is located not far from Philadelphia’s sports complexes. The home venues for the Sixers, Flyers Phillies, and also Eagles annually draw more than 8.5 million clients, which means that Live!’s FanDuel sportsbook is self-assured to benefit from that traffic.
