History of Wyoming Gambling

The first type of legalized gambling in Wyoming is racing. Wyoming Downs is the remaining live track in the state. It stopped operations in 2010, though returned the following year.

The first Wyoming casino opened its doors in 2009. Wind River Casino in Riverton was the first casino to go live. Two other Wyoming casinos related to the tribe also opened in the 2010s. Slot games and video poker games were the first kinds of legalized casino-style games in Wyoming.

The Wyoming Lottery was launched on March 13, 2013. The first ticket was sold a few months later. WyoLotto doesn’t sell scratch-off tickets. It is only allowed to sell lotto tickets.
